An average of 11.7 million Americans visited online news sites each day last week, following last week’s tragic events in America, almost double the six million who visited a news site in the previous week.
According to Jupiter MMXI US panel of “at home” and “at work” users for the week ending 16th September, the online news category grew by almost 80% compared to the week ending 9th September. Sites within the category that experienced significant growth include ABCNews.com, CBS.com, CNN.com, Foxnews.com and Time.com, as well as British based sites BBC.co.uk and Guardian.co.uk.
